There are two points why there is a remastered version
now for this not to old flick. First the video got a
newer and fresher color grading, which is based on the
new UHD master.
Second the audio part and this is the biggest point
about the new disc, various voices were not heard,
which were also placed on the height channels via the
English version. Also some sounds were missing from
the old version on the Heights. E.g. the atmosphere
in the baseball stadium is much more room-filling and
in many places the new german audio version is even
more vivid than the original english audio version,
which (based on the old Blu-ray) remained untouched
– for example, at the baseball bat after a little over
two minutes, the grandfather clock after 5’30 or at the
allocation of film music, which plays even more audibly
crisp from the Heights. Over the regular layer, the
original audio is still a bit more dynamic in the
dialogue, whereas the new audio version of the synchro
delivers more dynamics over the interplay between the
lower and upper layers. In addition, the German version
offers more low bass – good to hear with the growl
after a little over 31 minutes during the score playing
wickedly low. Overall, the new german track audibly
beats that of the old Universal Blu-ray and is also
more lively than the English version on the whole.
