| Finney Shaw is a shy but clever 13-year-old boy who is abducted by a |
| sadistic killer and trapped in a soundproof basement where screaming |
| is of no use. When a disconnected phone on the wall begins to ring,
| Finney discovers that he can hear the voices of the killer’s
| previous victims. And they are dead-set on making sure that what
| happened to them doesn’t happen to Finney.

| There are two points why there is a remastered version now for
| this not to old flick. First the video got a newer and fresher
| color grading, which is based on the new UHD master.
| Second the audio part and this is the biggest point about the new
| disc, various voices were not heard, which were also placed on the
| height channels via the English version. Also some sounds were
| missing from the old version on the Heights. E.g. the atmosphere
| in the baseball stadium is much more room-filling and in many
| places the new german audio version is even more vivid than the
| original english audio version, which (based on the old Blu-ray)
| remained untouched – for example, at the baseball bat after a
| little over two minutes, the grandfather clock after 5’30 or at
| the allocation of film music, which plays even more audibly crisp
| from the Heights. Over the regular layer, the original audio is
| still a bit more dynamic in the dialogue, whereas the new audio
| version of the synchro delivers more dynamics over the interplay
| between the lower and upper layers. In addition, the German
| version offers more low bass – good to hear with the growl after a
| little over 31 minutes during the score playing wickedly low.
| Overall, the new german track audibly beats that of the old
| Universal Blu-ray and is also more lively than the English version
| on the whole.
